Basketball Wall Street: “SayYesToSuccess Elite Showcase NYC High School Event 2016”

The inaugural 2016 Say Yes To Success Elite Showcase NYC high school event took place January 16th and 17th in the Bronx, New York at Harry Truman High School in honor of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Twenty of the finest public, parochial and preparatory high school basketball programs in the northeast as far as Fort Washington, Maryland, and Chapel Hill, North Carolina, came to participate in the Say Yes To Success Elite Showcase NYC event. All of the high school coaches and student athletes that participated in the event were class personified and excellent in character and athletic ability. The following prospects were evaluated by Basketball Wall Street:
Danielle Cosgrove 6’3/So/F Sachem East-(NY)
Cosgrove is a forward prospect with excellent back to the basket post moves in place finishing with either hand to complete the play, she also converted on several 3-point shots stretching the defense out to the arc confirming her ability as a shooter. Cosgrove’s face-up and drive maneuvers are solid and effective so is her defense and shot blocking ability, she produced a triple-double with (30-points 12-rebounds and 10-block shots) in her game against Boy&Girls-(NY). Cosgrove plays for the Philly Belles Nike EYBL Travel Club.
Breanne Bellerand 5’10/JR/G Immaculate Conception-(NJ)
Bellerand is an athletic and skilled wing-guard prospect that is intelligent enough to use angles and her strong frame to finish drives to the basket through contact. She is also an elite level defender and rebounder capable of turning the momentum of a game with these attributes. Bellerand plays for the New Jersey Sparks Nike EYBL Travel Club.
Aziah Hudson 5’7/So/G Baldwin-(NY)
Baldwin is a team that plays very well at a fast pace and Hudson fits perfectly in this style of play utilizing elite straight line speed and the ability to drive by defenders and finish at a high rate. Defensively, she is solid using a low base and lateral speed to turn the offensive player. At the next level Hudson would be better suited at a school that has an uptempo style of play in place. Hudson has an offer from Hofstra University and plays for the Exodus NYC Nike EYBL Travel Club.
Lanay Rodney 5’9/SR/G Peekskill-(NY)
Rodney is a pure scorer that shows good instincts and a variety of offensive moves and options. She attacks the rim with a scorers mentality and is a consistent mid range game producer. Defensively, she plays the passing lanes well to produce steals and run outs. Rodney is still uncommitted as a senior prospect.
Imani Lewis 6’1/So/F Life Center Academy-(NJ)
Lewis is a smooth power forward with good hands and is a skilled finisher around the rim, she is an above average rebounder and plays solid interior defense utilizing a strong low base and quick feet. Lewis’ tenacity and south-paw approach makes her tough match up for defenders. Lewis
Teisha Hyman 5’10/FR/G Woodlands-(NY)
Hyman brings elite size, length and skill set to the court as a combo guard at this stage in her development. She can score the basketball at a high rate but is also able to lead the offense with confidence showing passing skills and good court vision. Through repetition her pull-up in the lane and 3-point shot has become much more consistent. Hyman is from Westchester County, New York the same area as Saniya Chong and Andra Espinoza-Hunter.
Andra Espinoza-Hunter 6’0/JR/G Blair Academy-(NJ)
Espinoza-Hunter brings great size and game experience to the guard position and possess an impressive set of advanced ball skills on the offensive end. Her dribbling ability has improved to the point where she can now diversify her offensive game with pull-up off the dribble maneuvers and drives to the basket. Her unlimited shooting range allows her to also be very effective playing without the basketball which will help her at the next level. Espinoza-Hunter is one of the top scholastic guards in the country, she is committed to UConn and plays for the Philly Belles Nike EYBL Travel Club.
Felicia Aiyotean 6’10/SR/P Blair Academy-(NJ)
Aiyotean game has developed as a post prospect in that she can now post up on the low blocks turn and finish with a soft touch. This cultivation in her game makes her one of the most intriguing uncommitted senior prospects in the country. At 6-foot-10 Aiyotean could also help a major division one program at the defensive end with her innate shot blocking ability,size and mobility.
Fama Gueye 6’6/SR/P Carolina Prep Academy-(NC)
Gueye is a long and athletic post that plays solid interior defense on the box and on weak side rotations to block shots. Her offense is effective inside the paint or scoring put backs off of offensive rebounds. Gueye played well in a match up with 6’10 Sr Felicia Aiyotean.
Jenna Annecchiarico 5’5/So/G Baldwin-(NY)
Annecchiarico is a high motor,speedy guard that is crafty and skilled being able to handle the ball with both hands, shoot from the perimeter and distribute efficient passes to teammates. She has a good feel for the game and plays high intensity defense. Annecchiarico has offers from Seton Hall and Hofstra she also plays for Exodus NYC Nike EYBL Travel Club.
Mykea Gray 5’6/JR/G National Christian Academy-(MD)
Gray is one of the top scholastic guards in the country with her ability to constantly punish defenders with a dynamic hesitation dribble maneuver or a lethal crossover. The form and follow through of her jump shot has improved making her a much more consistent perimeter threat. Gray plays for the FairFaxStars-(VA) Nike EYBL Travel Club.
Dyona Davis 5’7/So/G Harry Truman-(NY)
Davis played well in two games in the showcase utilizing a quick first step and a solid mid-range game. She can also handle the basketball well enough to create scoring opportunities in transition or in a half court set. Davis plays for Harry Truman high school the most improved team in the New York City Public School Athletic League.
Maia Moffit 5’8/JR/G St Anthony’s-(NY)
Moffit is a guard that is coachable and plays within the concept of the offense, these intangibles with help her get to the next level along with her athletic ability to explode to the rim in transition. Her ball handling and perimeter shooting is solid. Defensively she plays with a high motor and is a good man to man defender. Moffit has an offer from Stony Brook University.
Jordan McLemore 5’7/So/G Immaculate Conception-(NJ)
McLemore is a lead guard that is able to handle the basketball and run a team in a half court set, she also showcased separation speed in transition and the ability to deliver sharp passes to her teammates. Her perimeter shot is reliable and she exhibited above average defense. McLemore plays for the New Jersey Sparks Nike EYBL Travel Club.
Elizabeth Martino 5’10/8th/G National Christian Academy-(MD)
Martino is a polished and skilled modern wing guard with an advanced offensive game that includes the ability to breakdown defenders off the dribble and to slash to the basket and finish at a high rate with a solid euro-step maneuver. Martino finished with 12-points in a tough game against Immaculate Conception-(NJ), she also plays for TeamTakeOver-(MD) Nike EYBL Travel Club.
